Chief Operating Officer
The Mission
Everything humanity depends on is mined, dug, or grown. At AIM, we are building the autonomous linchpin of civilization. We transform heavy machinery—bulldozers, loaders, excavators—into AI-powered fleets that operate continuously, safely, and at peak performance in the world’s harshest environments.
AIM runs production mines, large scale infrastructure builds, and defense operations as a TRL9 hardened system, not a science experiment.
Built by engineers from mining, construction, Waymo, SpaceX, Google and Tesla, AIM enables scalable earthmoving, turbocharging the global economy’s physical foundation. AIM is backed by some of the most sophisticated capital in the world, including General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, Elad Gil, Human Capital, Ironspring Ventures, Mantis, DCVC.
You will run the operational backbone of the company, and lead AIM’s operations through rapid growth.
The Role: Radical Autonomy for Planetary Impact
As the COO, you will be the architect of AIM’s scaling engine. This is a high-leverage role reporting directly to the CEO, designed for a leader who thrives with a maximum degree of autonomy.
You own the execution of the terraforming mission. You have the mandate to build, dismantle, and optimize the operating systems required to deploy physical AI at a planetary scale. If you require a step-by-step manual, this isn't the role for you. If you define the manual, you belong at AIM.
You Are:
The Autonomous Executor: You possess the "founder mindset." You don't wait for permission; you identify bottlenecks and dissolve them.
The Scaler: You have a proven track record as a COO or high-level Operations executive in a high-growth startup (Deep Tech, Robotics, or Aerospace preferred).
The Industrialist: You understand the complexities of physical AI and have experience managing operations that involve heavy assets or mission-critical infrastructure.
The Strategist: You can navigate a boardroom with Tier-1 VCs and discuss site safety with a mine manager on the same day.
Responsibilities
1. Architect of Execution (Max Autonomy)
Mission Command: You own the "how" of AIM’s global expansion. You are trusted to make high-stakes decisions across Customer success, HR, Legal, and Finance.
Terraforming Operations: Direct the operational logistics required to reshape terrain for defense units and industrial giants—ensuring AIM’s physical AI whole product has the structural support to succeed in the field.
Organizational Design: Scale the team from its current high-growth phase to a global industrial leader.
2. Financial & Legal Stewardship
Strategic Finance: Oversee budgeting, capital allocation, financial planning, investor relations. You have the autonomy to direct resources where they accelerate our mission with the highest leverage.
Legal & Compliance: Provide strategic direction to the Head of Legal on regulatory priorities, export control posture, partnership and OEM strategy, ensuring legal is structured as a business accelerant.
Risk Management: Mitigate the unique risks associated with global autonomous heavy machinery and defense deployments.
3. Customer Success & Global Distribution
Revenue, OEM, Channel Strategy: Own the commercial operating model across all 3 layers of the business, including with global OEM and distribution partners. Set channel strategy, negotiate partner structure, and ensure distribution scales in line with AIM's deployment roadmap.
Safety & Productivity: Ensure customers achieve targets, turning successful deployments into long-term, compounding partnerships.
Customer Success & Ops: Streamline the feedback loop between on-site performance and our engineering teams.
4. Talent, Culture, PR
High-Bar Hiring: Lead HR to land and retain the world’s top talent – scaling AIM’s existing strong talent and culture.
Performance Culture: Foster a dual-use mindset—balancing the agility of tech with the rigor and safety requirements of heavy industry and defense.
Marketing: Manage PR and raise brand awareness.
