Inside AI Earthmoving Machines!
Aaron from BuildWitt Visits AIM to See Autonomous Earthmoving in Action

On March 21st, BuildWitt released a video featuring AIM autonomous equipment operating in the field. One of the first times a major construction media platform has shown autonomous dozers and excavators working on a real jobsite.
Watch it here.
BuildWitt is one of the most widely followed media platforms in the dirt world, reaching hundreds of thousands of operators, contractors, and equipment owners. In the video, founder Aaron Witt and his team visit AIM in Washington to see the technology firsthand.
The video covers a lot of ground. It starts at AIM's headquarters in Redmond, where CEO Adam Sadilek walks through the hardware; including the LiDAR, onboard compute, and armored sensor suite that make autonomy possible. From there, the team heads to AIM's proving ground to see two autonomous dozers slot-dozing side by side, pushing material down a slope while an operator supervises from AIM-OS. Aaron gets a close look at how the operator interface works: setting a plan, adjusting parameters like cut depth and blade aggressiveness, and monitoring both machines from a single screen.
As Aaron puts it: "This is quite literally a video game."
One of the standout moments comes when Aaron walks directly in front of an autonomous dozer to test the safety system.
Throughout the video, the AIM team emphasizes that autonomy isn't about replacing operators. It's about repositioning them into safer, higher-value roles of managing multiple machines instead of sitting in a single cab. With an industry-wide operator shortage and what the team calls "the gray wave" of retirements, systems like AIM's are designed to help sites move more material, attract new talent, and keep people out of harm's way.
